Think of this art challenge as a way to get yourself to commit to doing something creative and artistic every day. While the physical act of coloring allows all ages to improve and work on fine motor skills, coordination and vision, the meditative aspect can help you release your inner thoughts and fears and keeping an art journal gives you a safe space to do that.
It’s also a way to break up the monotony and stress of your day to day. Studies have shown that drawing relaxes the amygdala — the fear center of the brain — and allows your mind to get the rest it needs. Giving this part of your brain an occasional break helps reduce your overall stress and I don’t know anyone that couldn’t benefit from less stress.
